Changes in items available in ration
The government has made some important changes in the ration distribution system. Now ration card holders will get the following amount of grains:
- First:
- Rice : 3 kg
- Wheat : 2 kg
- Now:
- Rice: 2.5 kg
- Wheat : 2 kg
Changes have also been made for Antyodaya ration card holders:

- Rice : 21 kg
- Wheat : 14 kg
- Now:
- Rice : 18 kg
- Wheat: 17 kg
The total quantity (35 kg) will remain the same, but the proportion of rice and wheat has been changed.
Eligibility Criteria
To avail the benefits of this scheme, the beneficiaries must fulfill the following conditions:
- It is mandatory to be a ration card holder.
- The annual income should be less than ₹2 lakh in rural areas and ₹3 lakh in urban areas.
- e-KYC process must be completed.
- There should not be any government employee in the family.
- Must be a BPL (Below Poverty Line) or Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) card holder.
